Semiotic.

For my music magazine I am going to imply the theory 'The Semiotic Theory'. This theory was made by a man called 'Saussure'.
 This theory is where there is a
 'sign',>'signifier'> 'signified'.
Rain > moody music > sadness.
 For example when i make my front cover of my magazine the sign will be 'fluorescent pink' then the signifier is 'bright pictures' so the signified is 'R&B/pop magazine'.

Qualitative or Quantitative Research

When creating a music magazine I will need to collect some research so I will know that the audience wants in the magazine. I can do this is two ways, either Qualitative research or Quantitative research.

The first method I could do is Qualitative research, this method of research can be very time consuming using manual methods. When you are met with a lot of material and while trying to find the meaning of what it means can be a very daunting task. The advantages of using this kind of research are you use interviews and case studies which give you a lot high quality and very detailed results because the interviews with different people.

The other method of research is Quantitative. This method is done using surveys, questionnaires, statistics found on the internet. Disadvantages of using this type of research is you will probably end up having some of the same research as other people doing the same task as you. It could also be less detailed because its not a one to one research method. Advantages of using this method of production is it is cheaper and i much quicker way to find the information because you don't have to spend time looking for people to interview. Another advantage is more people have took the questionnaire so you will have more research.

I think in my magazine I am going to use a bit of both, Quantitative and Qualitative because I do want to speak one to one with people to have interviews but i also want a lot of research so my magazine is very detailed.
